After FBI domain expires, seized Megaupload.com serves up porn

Earlier this week, something suspicious started happening with Web addresses related to sites seized by the FBI from Megaupload and a number of online gambling sites. Instead of directing browsers to a page with an FBI banner, they started dropping Web surfers onto a malicious feed of Web advertisements—some of them laden with malware.

DDoS attack downs University of London learning platform

The University of London Computer Centre fell victim to a cyber-attack on Thursday.The assault left Moodle – an open-source learning platform – out of action for several hours on Thursday morning before normal service was restored.Technicians initially estimated problems were down to firewall configuration issues, before realising actual humans were behind the problem, as status messages on the ULCC website explain.All our services are now up and running again! The networking issue was caused by a cyber-attack.We have taken action to block the source. An incident report will be produced and shared in due course.

Database of 4 million Adult Friend Finder users leaked

E-mail addresses, sexual orientations, and other sensitive details from almost four million AdultFriendFinder.com subscribers have been leaked onto the Internet following a hack that rooted the casual dating service, security researchers said.The cache includes more than 3.8 million unique e-mail addresses of current and former subscribers, Australian security researcher Troy Hunt reported early Friday morning. The data, which is in the form of 15 Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, was first seeded to anonymous sites hosted on the Tor privacy network. It has since spread to sites on the open Internet. Links to sites hosting the data are easily found on Twitter and other social networking sites, (Ars isn’t publishing the locations).
